International Women’s Day 2023 is coming up – and we want to to take this chance to have a chat with some of our amazing queens here at Hurley’s!

We like to celebrate women every day; but we’re also super pleased that we have a whole day to shout about our stunning female dominated staff body. Here at Hurley’s, our head office is 81% female, with 71% of managerial positions also being filled by women. We sat down with some of our very own girl bosses to talk style and all things IWD.

Why are you excited for International Women’s Day 2023?

“To see women get the recognition they deserve, the inspiring stories that often come from it and seeing people build women up and supporting them”

Which woman do you find inspiring and why?

“My mum – she’s the epitome of strength, resilience, fun, independence, and the sisterhood.”

How would you describe your personal style?

“Currently rocking athleisure 90% of the time, I’m a sporty gal so I tend to go for something comfy! At the minute, HUGO sweat pants are my go to.”

What’s your biggest styling tip?

“Only ever dress for yourself.”

What does being a woman mean to you?

“To be able to do it all, I think the sky is the limit!”

Why are you excited for International Women’s Day 2023?

“I’m excited for IWD because it supports and uplifts women, and spreads awareness for gender equality. It’s important because women’s rights aren’t as advanced in many other countries, and I think people can sometimes forget this.”

Which woman do you find inspiring and why?

“I find women in the fashion industry particularly inspiring – like Anna Wintour. She’s a force to be reckoned with; she’s championed and supported new designers, and she’s a woman in a position of power. A lot of the time, women don’t get taken seriously in their job roles in comparison to their male counterparts – where as she doesn’t seem intimidated by anything.

How would you describe your personal style?

“My style is pretty casual on a day-to-day basis. I think sportswear is particularly in at the moment. Although I do love wearing wide-legged trousers with a figure-hugging top or corset.”

What’s your biggest styling tip?

“100% layer your basics. If you have a simple capsule wardrobe and layer those pieces, you can’t go wrong.”

What does being a woman mean to you?

“Three key words spring to mind: strength, resilience, and confidence."

Why are you excited for International Women’s Day 2023?

“I’m excited to see the comradery between women, and some appreciation for women and female empowerment”

Which woman do you find inspiring and why?

“I think Marilyn Monroe is such an inspiration – she broke boundaries and pushed the envelope when it came to women in charge. She was a huge champion of her own self-cause, as well as helping others find a voice too.”

How would you describe your personal style?

“In a few words, I’d say my personal style is basic neutrals. I like to wear tonal outfits with a statement piece to tie in the basics of my wardrobe. Silver jewellery is a must, as well as a bulky crossbody bag.”

What’s your biggest styling tip?

“My biggest tip is definitely to invest in good quality essentials and statement bags to really add a pop of style.”

What does being a woman mean to you?

“To me, being a woman gives me the confidence to work hard and always be a better version of myself. I love the sister vibes with my girls, it feels like we’re part of a secret bad-ass club!”

Why are you excited for International Women’s Day 2023?

“I love the idea of all women uniting for the day – it’s like the girl’s bathroom on a night out X 1000!”

Which woman do you find inspiring and why?

“This has to be my mum. My mum lost her 9 year battle to cancer 2 years ago, but in that time she continued to work, put everyone else first, and lived life to the full. For that, she’ll always be the most inspirational woman to me.”

How would you describe your personal style?

“I personally have quite a varied style depending on the occasion and my hobbies. For work, I like to be comfy so I tend to go for gym wear. Although, I have quite a country lifestyle living on a farm, so I love tweed and a fedora just as much. Being versatile is key!”

What’s your biggest styling tip?

“For me, I love shoes. I like to invest in a good pair to finish my outfit. Shoes are always your friend - even if everything else is a mess, you’ve always got a pair of good shoes to fall back on.”

What does being a woman mean to you?

“I feel proud to be a woman, the fact that we can grow new life and bring something into this world blows my mind. Growing up on a farm, I’ve been raised with the mentality that there isn’t much a man can do that a woman cant – and I’m grateful for that.
